Happy Halloween!

So Clay and I kept with tradition and had an hour to figure out our costumes this year. We went to K-mart and this is what we came up with...

Yes, I was a pregnant stick person and Clay was Tom "Iceman" Kazanski from Top Gun. It was a proud moment for Clay since he was able to wear a medal he earned from Scouts for the first time. We spent the night eating tons of food at a couple of parties our friends had. I was tempted to go trick-or-treating and just tell everyone I was getting the candy for our baby.
We only got that one picture of Clay, so I thought I would surprise him and post this lovely one. This was the costume he wanted to wear to the Preston rodeo. Clay's excited this semester is half over. We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving break and the BYU-Utah game. Go Cougars!

Baby Fun

Isn't he cute?! We had a to do a followup ultrasound a couple of weeks ago because our son kept putting his hand in front of his face so the specialist couldn't see his lips to rule out cleft lip. So we got this adorable picture. It was so comforting to know that our baby is healthy and everything is going well.

Things have been fun getting ready for the baby. My mom and sisters threw me a baby shower a while ago and yes I am just barely blogging about it. I apologize. But it was a lot of fun! Here is the cute diaper cake they made.

We played fun baby shower games and ate tons of cake. It was great to see all of my family and friends. We feel so blessed to have so much support and people we can run to with questions when we are clueless about what to do with our screaming child!

On Friday, we went on a hot date to Babies R' Us! We picked out the hottest stroller/car seat combo. Clay was pretty excited to put it together. When he's bored, he pushes it around the house since it's the closest thing we have to a toy. Things went smoothly except we found this little piece and we have no idea where it came from. Hmmm....

And Clay had even more fun putting our crib together and there weren't any left over pieces! Thanks to this economic downturn, there was a high end furniture retailer in Orem going out of business so we were able to pick up this beautiful crib for a great price. It's kind of scary to think we are going to have a child to put in it soon.

Getting all of the stuff for the baby is exciting, but the one thing I was really excited about being pregnant was having a belly to sit my popcan on. Oh yeah. Life is good. Thanks so much to everyone with all of their help and support for our upcoming parenthood.

Milestones

Whoa! Two posts in one month - you're not dreaming. And another milestone: Clay and I went on a date! Here are a few of the highlights...

We went on a triple date with some friends after the football game to the Nickelcade! Gotta love the cheap thrills. First game: air hockey. Yes, I beat Clay. He put some points up on the board, but couldn't pull it out in the end so I had to blog about it to rub it in.

Next game: Time Crisis II. Clay and his buddy Kevin took on a mob of gangsters. Doesn't Clay look threatening with his pink gun? They didn't win, but I have a feeling we will be going back soon so Clay can have his revenge.

Next game: A pounding game to help you release all your emotions caused by having something growing inside of you and screwing up your hormones. Clay had his impressive video of his flip while skiing and this is what I have to offer. Just as impressive, right? So we had a lot of cheap fun with everyone and I look forward to our next quarterly date.

I had another new adventure in cooking last week. I decided to make bacon wrapped chicken. I like bacon and chicken and cream cheese, so put them all together and it will be a hit. All you have to do is chop some onion, mix it in the cream cheese, spread it on the chicken and wrap it all in bacon. Well, this is what it looked like when I pulled it out of the oven. Doesn't look very appetizing. They tasted a little bit better than they look. I haven't decided if I should throw out this recipe or try it again with a few tweaks.
We'll see, but you have to give me credit for trying something new!

Clay is currently playing on a intramural football team with some of his friends. Their team is called Count Choculitis which was inspired by the 'Health Care' episode of The Office. Their first game they won 28-0 and they also won last week's game 28-7. Clay usually plays defense, but in that game he gave offense a try and caught a long pass on fourth down and scored a touchdown. It was pretty amazing and fun to watch. Speaking of football....BYU is ranked number 7 and 8! The Cougars look great this year and we are hoping for three shut outs in a row when BYU plays Utah State this Friday. And my last milestone: I finally switched to maternity pants and I love them! Thanks so much Amber for lending me your maternity wardrobe. I call them my stretchy pants. "It's for fun." I think they need to make all jeans with a large stretchy waist. Clay is jealous. I just know I am going to come home one day and find him wearing them.

That's not a leg...

It's a boy! So many people predicted it would be a girl that we got used to the idea, so it was a surprise when they said it was a boy. I think Heavenly Father figured Clay could only handle one emotional girl in his life right now!

Hi mom!

Things have been crazy for us lately. I just graduated from BYU with a degree in Communication Disorders. I really enjoyed earning my degree, but it feels good to move on and now I get to be a mom. So it was fun to send Clay off to school yesterday and not have to go myself.

We have been partying as much as we could before school started. We had a ward campout over the weekend. We had lots of fun and ate tons of smores. The next day we decided to up and go to Blackfoot for the Eastern Idaho State Fair. Wow. The food was incredible. I am so glad I have an excuse to eat as much as I want.

We just moved to a new apartment. Do you like it? Actually, we moved to a new place with two bedrooms. We feel like we are in heaven because it is so much bigger and nicer than our old basement apartment. And we get to be managers for our little six-plex so that will help save money so we can pay for the baby! Our apartment is still in our ward so Clay was able to stay for his calling in the bishopric. We just got a wonderful new bishop and it's been a good adjustment. We are very blessed! My pregnancy has been much better than I expected and the baby is healthy and squirmy. Now that things are more settled down and I'm not in school, I hope to be better about posting. Thanks for not giving up on us!

The Semi-Annual Update

It's a miracle! We are updating our blog and we would like to thank Grandma Morgan for inspiring/threatening us. Quick recap since our last post: Cougars beat the Utes 17-10 and we are still celebrating!

One of the mottoes for BYU is "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve." The other night we saw a T-shirt that said, "Enter to Learn, Go Fourth... and Eighteen." In case you didn't know, we barely won the game thanks to an AMAZING play on fourth and eighteen.


Thanksgiving was full of family, food and fun. We went to Salmon and visited Grandma Bills at the ranch. We have the same tradition as the Griswold family and hiked in the mountains and cut down a Christmas tree. We did remember to bring a saw!


On to December: We went to the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas concert with Mom and Dad and Kent and Mavis. We really enjoyed the King's Singers and cheering on our brother-in-law Barry in the orchestra. After that, we survived finals and enjoyed going home for the break.


January. New Year's resolution: take more pictures and update our blog more often. Yeah - doing great so far! We went to the Hillams and celebrated our nephew Neal's 12th birthday. We love those kids.



February. We celebrated Jennifer's 23rd birthday and her family came down and partied with us. This semester has been a difficult and fun one. Jennifer is enjoying her floral design class and made this Japanese design in her lab. Clay is taking a ski instructor class and got to ski every Friday at a very low price. Here is a smashing video of his progress.

Clay is still working at BioMedics Plasma Center as a phlebotomist. He enjoys getting to know people as he's sticking them with a 15 gauge needle. Jennifer is still working at the library working with the online database and they are still paying her. She is excited to graduate in August.

Halloween

Okay, so it's December and we are finally posting stuff from Halloween, lay off. But after you see the pics you'll see that it was truly worth the wait.

These are our pumpkins in the dark and in the light. Jenn's happy one turned out better, but Clay sure tried with his version of Jim Halpert.(You might have to look real closely)

Later, we went to Clay's work party. Conveniently, the plasma center where he works used to be a three-story club that was shut down because somebody got stabbed there. I can't think of a better place to have a Halloween party.As you can see, we were the life of the party. Jenn was a Christmas tree and Clay, well, we don't know what he was, but check out that sweet suit. Lucky. And the mullet isn't too bad either, but Jenn's hair isn't a wig, that's impressive.Of course Kevin and Aaron, our best friends, didn't look too shabby either. Nice legs Aaron.

DJ Chu, was nice enough to let us work the turntables. We don't want to brag but Jenn was pretty good. She had the place hoppin' in no time.
